Black Friday in the UK

Yesterday as some of you may know was Black Friday and for those that don’t, where have you been? Black Friday is known for its huge discounts on the Friday after thanksgiving in America, however, some retailers have started bringing it to the UK. There’s a big debate over whether it was Amazon or Apple who initially decided to start it in the UK but that’s neither here nor there.

This year we saw Amazon and Apple do similar discounts online such as lightning deals and money off iPads. We also saw Walmart take advantage of their Asda company by offering huge discounts on TV’s and other electrical goods that had people queuing outside waiting for the shop to open at 8am.

The Digital People just simply see this as a huge marketing stunt with companies trying to offer huge discounts on items to get people in their store and spend money on other things as well, generally known as a loss leader. We want to know what you think, is it a good idea? and should more companies bring it to the UK? Tweet us @Digital__People or tell us on Facebook.
