Whilst NASA looks to mars it seems China has successfully landed an unmanned spacecraft on the moon in what represents a major achievement for the country’s space programme. It marks a significant point in Chinas economic and tecnological growth, as the only two countries to have landed on the moon before have been America and Russia during the space race.
On Saturday afternoon (GMT), a landing module underwent a powered descent, using thrusters to perform the first soft landing on the moon in 37 years.
