The Faults of Capitalism – Douglas Rushkoff

“…We’ve got more than enough houses, we’ve got empty houses for closure in California and what are we doing?  we’re tearing them down to keep market prices high. We’ve got more than enough food, but the department of agriculture is burning food! Why? because we can’t give the food to people because they don’t have jobs. So instead we find excuses to employ people so that they can make crap that we don’t need. Not because we need the crap but becuase they need jobs so that we can justify divvying out the spoils of an industrial age culture.”
